An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Annual 5K Run, Two Mile Walk Set For Ossining OSSINING, N.Y. - -It's become a back to school tradition in Ossining. Ossining Matters is hosting its 15th annual 5K run/two-mile walk on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 9 a.m. The event benefits Ossining Matters, a not-for-profit education foundation that raises funds for the Ossining School District. Runners begin at the Main Street Post Office, while walkers start at the Double Arches. Everyone will follow the path along the old Croton Aqueduct trail towards the Crawbuckie Nature Preserve, accessing the park via a path created by the Avalon residential complex. Man Damages Vehicle With Hammer In Domestic Incident, Yorktown Police Say YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A Yorktown Heights man was arrested and charged Friday after he allegedly damaged a car with a hammer during a domestic incident. Neil Quinn, 39, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, a Class E felony. He was released on his own recognizance and was ordered to stay away from the victim and her children. He is due back in court on Friday, Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. Police did not say where the incident occurred or how severely the car was damaged. Quinn was arrested earlier this summer and charged with DWI. Chinese Business Leaders Take Two-Day Tour Of Rockland ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A group of Chinese business leaders took a two-day tour of Rockland this week as part of the county's strategy to encourage tourism and investment. Dominican College Athletic Facility Gets $5 Million Expansion ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -- The Hennesy Center at Dominican College has gotten a facelift. The college unveiled the $5 million expansion this week. It includes a new lower level with a state-of-the-art fitness center. The new fitness center is about four times larger than the former fitness room and has 30 pieces of cardio equipment- compared to six in the old room. Cuomo Donor Apologizes For Racial Remark About Sen. Stewart-Cousins Senate Minority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins of Westchester is condemning a comment made by a prominent financial backer of Gov. District Attorney Opens New Office To Assist Immigrants In Westchester WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Immigrants in Westchester will now have a place to turn to for assistance in dealing with the criminal justice system. Stony Point Community Rallies Behind Family Of Boy With Enlarged Heart STONY POINT, N.Y. -- The Stony Point community has come together to help the family Brandon Padilla, an 11-year-old boy who suffers from Noonan Syndrome. A GoFundMe was launched for Padilla's family, having raised more than $2,000, with the goal of helping them buy a car so they can go to doctor's appointments. Driver Of BMW SUV In Taconic Parkway Crash That Killed Four Pleads Guilty The driver who attempted to steer with his knees and ended up causing a crash that killed four people, including his daughter, on the Taconic State Parkway pleaded guilty Friday. Nerim Sinanovic, a 34-year-old resident of the Bronx, pleaded guilty to four counts of criminally negligent homicide, a Class E felony, and three traffic violations.
