An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Sen. Murphy Calls For Legislation To Curb Distracted Driving With distracted driving now responsible for more deaths than drunk driving, Sen. Terrence Murphy (R-Yorktown) is calling for action."It has been estimated that text messaging can take a driver's eyes off of the road for up to five seconds. 'America's Got Talent' Star Grace VanderWaal Returns To Area It was a true homecoming for Suffern's Grace VanderWaal last week. VanderWaal, who won "America's Got Talent" last summer performed near her hometown at Ramapo High School in Franklin, N.J., to benefit Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. The concert, attended by more than 600 people, raised money for "Butterflies", a Valley program that helps families caring for children with life-limiting or life-threatening injuries at home. A New App Is Coming, Courtesy of Byram Hills Students WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Four Byram Hills sophomores are hoping to revolutionize the way Westchester residents get their food. The students have started WestchesterEats, a mobile app that allows people to order food, make reservations and find more information about restaurants in Westchester. Harvey Baseball Coach Honored At Minor League Baseball Game It was Luis Lopez Night at the Bridgeport Bluefish game Friday and his players wanted to join in the fun. Lopez, assistant varsity baseball coach for the Katonah-based Harvey School, was invited back by his former team for the retiring of his No. 19 jersey. OSI Donates Overlook Trail To Teatown For Nature Preserve OSSINING, NY — Teatown Lake Reservation has even more open space. The Open Space Institute announced its donation of a 40-acre parcel to Teatown. Teatown has been managing the parcel for the last 20 years. The Westchester Land Trust will hold an easement on the property. Kent Supervisor Running For Third Term KENT, N.Y.-- Maureen Fleming announced on Friday she is seeking re-election for a third term as Kent Supervisor. Fleming, a Democrat, said she wants to continue to lead the town in the right direction, having put forth three budgets without a tax increase. IBM Sells Final Part Of Vacant Somers Property SOMERS, N.Y. -- IBM has sold off the final piece of its Somers campus.IBM sold off a vacant 162.5-acre parcel to a Delaware-based limited liability company called 294 Route 100, LLC on March 30 for $1.5 million according to The Somers Record.
