Lakeland Goes Pink Raising Money To Fight Breast Cancer SHRUB OAK, N.Y. -- Lakeland High School joined forces with the Shrub Oak Athletic Club to raise money to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  The 6th annual "Tackles for a Cure" game was held Friday, September 9 as part of the Lakeland vs. Tappan Zee high school football game. The game has raised more than $50,000 to fight breast cancer.

Boak Defeats Falk To Win 40th Senate District Primary Ali Boak defeated Andrew Falk in the race to represent the Democratic Party in the 40th State Senate District against incumbent Terrence Murphy. Boak leads Falk 81 percent to 19 percent, 2,120 votes to 514 votes, according to unofficial results from the Westchester County Board of Elections with 64 percent of precincts reporting. In Putnam, Boak leads Falk 341 votes to 220 votes, 60 percent to 40 percent according to unofficial results from the Putnam County Board of Elections, with 90 percent of precincts reporting. The Mount Kisco location has been open for six years. The new restaurant will have a brick oven for pizza, front sliding accordion doors and patio seating. The restaurant is the brainchild of Brian Candee, Joe Bueti, and Mogan Anthony, the chef. The menu will evolve around seasonal ingredients and nightly specials. Army Football Player Killed In Croton Car Accident CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- A West Point cadet and Army football player was killed in a one-car accident early Sunday morning in Croton. Brandon Jackson, a 20-year-old Queens resident, was killed when his vehicle hit a guardrail on Route 9 near the 129 Municipal Place exit at 1:50 a.m., Sgt. John Nikitopoulos said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Nikitopoulos said.
