Mahopac's Olympic Diner Remains Closed Following Fire MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- The Olympic Diner in Mahopac was on Sunday following a fire on Saturday afternoon. Employees who were at the restaurant at 195 Route 6 on Sunday doing cleanup and said they hoped to be open very soon. A sign outside the restaurant said they had no water or power and would be closed for a few days. The fire, reported at 2:45 p.m., reportedly started in the walls of the diner near the kitchen area. Brinda Ramesh, a senior at Ossining High School, was honored by the Child Mind Institute for her research into developmental neuroscience. Peekskill Police Identify Man Who Hung Himself At Parking Garage PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The man who hung himself at a parking garage in Peekskill Monday was a veteran who lived at the Montrose VA Medical Center. Police identified Thomas Warren, 69, as the man who hung himself from the James Street Parking Garage . According to Lt. John White, Warren left a suicide note and also left a check for a funeral home in Tarrytown to pay for his funeral.
