Bald Eagles Are Back In Big Way In Westchester, Hudson Valley BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Thirty years ago, it would've been a rare sight to see a bald eagle flying in the Westchester sky. Now, bald eagles have become so common, places like Teatown in Ossining host an annual EagleFest. "I think bald eagles have been a conservation success story," Janelle Robbins, the executive director of the Bedford Audubon Society said. Bald Eagles Back In Big Way In Putnam, Hudson Valley PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Thirty years ago, it would've been a rare sight to see a bald eagle flying in the Putnam sky. Now in the winter, bald eagles have become a common sight in Putnam thanks to conservation efforts to bring them back. "They have definitely recovered beautifully in Putnam," Eric Lind, director of the Constitution Marsh Center and Sactuary in Garrison, said. "It's been a dramatic rebound. It's incredible." Mother Of 6-Year-Old Lacey Carr Of Croton Is No Longer At Hospital CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Kathleen Dymes, the mother of 6-year-old Lacey Carr, who died on Easter Sunday, is no longer a patient at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow. The hospital did not provide further details, only that she left the hospital about three to four days ago. Dymes had previously been in fair condition. Dymes was found unconscious with Lacey in their Croton-on-Hudson home in April. Lacey was pronounced dead at Phelps while Dymes was hospitalized there for almost two months. Yorktown's Bruce Apar Set To Appear On Investigation Discovery YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Former editor and publisher Bruce Apar has found a second career in front of the camera. Apar, who previously edited and published North County News in Yorktown, will be appearing on "Mansions and Murders" on Investigation Discovery Wednesday at 9 p.m. The Yorktown resident plays a detective on the crime re-enactment series, in an episode called "Love Thy Neighbor." NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital Center Honors Employees CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital honored some of its employees at a ceremony last week for their perfect attendance. The hospital honored 217 of their 712 full-time employees for perfect attendance. Some of the employees had been on the job for more than 45 years. “You should all be proud,’’ said President John C. Ossining Teacher Reassigned After Felony DWI Charge OSSINING, N.Y. -- Sal Imbimbo, a Cortlandt Manor resident who was arrested on May 14 and charged with felony driving while intoxicated, has been administratively reassigned, according to the Ossining School District. Imbimbo was charged with a felony because of a previous DWI conviction in 2010. Imbimbo was stopped for alleged erratic driving, and upon further investigation police realized he was under the influence, according to police. Picture House Hosts Screening And Discussion On Campus Sexual Assault PELHAM, N.Y. -- Sexual assaults on college campuses has become an epidemic. Thursday night, The Picture House hosted a screening of "The Hunting Ground," a documentary about the issue of sexual assaults on college campuses with a discussion after the film. The event was organized by Pelham Memorial High School's Women's Empowerment Club. According to the documentary, one in five college students has been sexually assaulted. Yorktown Resident From Nepal Raises Money For Earthquake Victims YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- For Gyaljen Nuru Sherpa, the earthquake in Nepal has hit very close to home. Sherpa is from Nepal and said while most of his family has survived, his hometown, in the Everest region, has totally collapsed. Now Sherpa is raising funds at his restaurant, Jewel of the Himalaya in the Triangle Shopping Center in Yorktown. "It has been frustrating," Sherpa said.
