Yorktown Police Ask For Public's Help In Knifepoint Robbery Investigation YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- The Yorktown Police Department said the alleged robbery that occurred on Jan. 15 at Kmart remains an ongoing investigation. Lt. Robert Noble said Tuesday that police don't have any new information about the suspect and are appealing to the public to help solve the crime. Moe's Southwest Grill Opens In Cortlandt Town Center CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Tex Mex lovers in Cortlandt now have a place to call home. Moe's Southwest Grill opened in the Cortlandt Town Center at 3089 East Main Street on Thursday, Jan. 15. The grand opening doubled as a celebration for franchise partner Jonathan Trager's grandmother, Gussie Kavanaugh, who turned 100 on Jan. 18. Kavanaugh gave the first 50 guests a free burrito each week for a year and, as she's done for all of her grandson's restaurants, she cut the ribbon to commemorate the grand opening. Briarcliff Drug Counselor Warns Of New Deadly Heroin Unique To Westchester WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- There is a new form of heroin making it away around Westchester and the consequences could be fatal, according to the founder of a recovery program. Scott Gillet, the creator and founder of the Briarcliff Institute For Recovery And Development (BIRD), an outpatient program, is warning people about a new form of heroin called blue bag heroin. Woman Robbed, Slashed While Leaving Kmart In Yorktown This story has been updated. YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown Police are looking for a man who allegedly robbed a woman at Kmart and cut her wrist with a knife Thursday. At approximately 3:50 p.m., a woman was exiting Kmart and when a male approached, demanding money and her cell phone, according to Police Chief Jim McMahon. The woman hesitated and the perpetrator cut her with a knife and ran off with the money and phone, McMahon said. The woman's injuries appear to be minor and police are currently investigating and looking for the perpetrator.

Pleasantville Claims Petty Politics Behind Audit On School Violence PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- The Pleasantville School District is disputing an audit from the State Comptroller's Office that accused the district of not properly reporting incidents of school violence. State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli audited seven districts in the state, including Pleasantville, to see how they complied with the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education Act during the 2011-12 school year. Briarcliff Mayor Reflects On 10 Years On The Job BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- For the first time in 10 years, the village of Briarcliff Manor will have a new mayor in April. Mayor William J. Vescio announced he has declined to run for re-election in March's upcoming village elections "I've got other things I need to do and I need the time for them," Vescio said.
