Inez Picani, 87, Lifelong Yonkers Resident YONKERS, N.Y. -- Inez Cardilli Picani, a lifelong resident of Yonkers, died Monday, Oct. 5. She was 87.Born to the late Nicholas and Geraldine Orza Cardilli, she married Dominick Picani in October 1966. He predeceased her in 1999.  Picani attended art school and was a employee at Brass Rail Restaurant in New York City and Geri's Bakery in Yonkers. She was a parishioner of St. Matthew's Church in Yonkers, where she was a former member of the choir and the Bible study group.  She was also predeceased by a brother, Richard Cardilli. She is survived by her children, Angela and David Picani.  …

Tests Find Legionella Bacteria At Greenwich High's Cooling Tower GREENWICH, Conn. — Tests of a Greenwich High School cooling tower found evidence of legionlla bacteria, which can cause Legionnaire's disease, according to a report in greenwichtime.com. Ramapo State Forest Stays Closed After Bear Encounters MAHWAH, N.J. -- Ramapo Mountain State Forest in Bergen and Passaic counties will remain closed this week after several hikers reported they had encountered a black bear, according to a report in NorthJersey.com.  A bear that wildlife officials think was involved in the incidents was caught and euthanized earlier this week, NorthJersey.com reported.  Three bear encounters were reported by hikers on Saturday, but no one was harmed, according to NorthJersey.com.  To read the full report, click here.

Priscilla Marallo Picarello, 91, Lifelong Peekskill Resident PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Priscilla Rose Marallo Picarello, a lifelong resident of Peekskill, died Sunday, Oct. 4. She was 91. Picarello was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Peekskill to Carmine and Consiglia Caputi Marallo. She attended local schools, including Peekskill High School. During World War II, she worked as a seamstress at Nan Flower Slip Factory, at Andy's Restaurant and for White's and Waldbaum's in Peekskill as a meat packer.  On Sept. 21, 1947, she married Anthony Picarello at Assumption Church in Peekskill.
