Siwanoy Elementary School Helps In 'Food Drive Month'
PELHAM, N.Y. -- May is "Food Drive Month," and Siwanoy Elementary School partnered with County Harvest, Inc. to help the cause by organizing a collection of non-perishable goods for the hungry. The donations were delivered to West HELP in Mount Vernon. West HELP is a housing facility for formerly homeless families. This residence provides a broad range of services including day care on-site and Food Pantry access. Student government reps from the Siwanoy fifth-grade loaded more than 300 pounds of food into the County Harvest vans, which went directly to West HELP.

Sleepy Hollow Science Teacher Participates In National Convention
SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Leana Peltier, an AP biology teacher at Sleepy Hollow High School, has participated for the past two years in the Mercy College Wipro Science Education Fellowship program. The fellowship program is designed to develop teacher leaders by encouraging collaboration among teachers from a variety of grade levels and school districts. As part of her research, Peltier chose to address the issue of designing inquiry based lessons for elementary school science classes. Ossining Police Honor Heroic Resident As Part Of Police Awards Ceremony
OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining took time on Thursday night to honor some of the men and women who patrol the streets along with a local resident, John Barbaran who went above and beyond.Barbaran, who used his personal vehicle to pull a stranded ambulance with patient on board from a snow bank during a winter storm, was issued a Civilian Award for his selfless act. The award was given as part of the 2016 Police Week Awards Ceremony.

Greenburgh Approves Capitol Budget
GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The Greenburgh Town Board unanimously approved the 2016 capitol budget. The budget, as amended by the Town Board, is posted in the comptroller's section of the town website. The entire budget is $9,326,514. Three major new sidewalks will be built this year. The sidewalks will be at Seely Place and Fort Hill Road from Ardsley Road towards Jackson Ave. The town hopes to also construct a sidewalk from Ardsley Road to the Greenville School and Sprain Road to Ardsley Middle School. Sleepy Hollow High School's Paw Club Hosts 'Yappy Hour'
SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Sleepy Hollow High School's Paw Club is hosting a "Yappy Hour" on Friday, May 20 from 4 to 7 p.m.Admission is free to the event at Coffee Labs on Main Street in Tarrytown.
