Mentor Claims West Point Cadets Celebrating, Not Protesting WEST POINT, N.Y. -- A mentor for the West Point cadets who are the target of an inquiry claims they raised their fists in a graduation photo to celebrate their achievement, not protest in support of Black Lives Matter as had been suspected, according to The Poughkeepsie Journal. Woman Fatally Hit By Car Dies At Westchester Medical Center MONTEBELLO, N.Y. -- Faith Leigh, 83, is dead after being hit by a car in Rockland County Monday, according to multiple reports. The senior citizen was killed was trying to cross Route 202 near Mayer Drive in Montebello when she was struck by a Hyundai sedan that had been traveling westbound, News 12 reports. Family members say she had just come home from a luncheon and was checking her mailbox, the report said. Poughkeepsie Woman Charged In Counterfeit Checks Case POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- New York State Police arrested a 22-year-old Poughkeepsie woman on Friday, May 6, in connection with the passing pf counterfeit checks at Thrifty Check Cashing. Shakilah T. Hill was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony, and criminal facilitation fourth degree, a misdemeanor, according to State Police in Rhinebeck. Volunteers From Nyack High School Help Efforts To Clean Hudson Shores ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- A group of Nyack High School students went down to Bowline Point Park to help clean up litter from the banks of the Hudson River, according to lohud.com.Volunteers across the Hudson Valley found all types of garbage while cleaning the banks of local waterways on Saturday, May 7, as part of the fifth Riverkeeper Sweep Initiative in New York, according to lohud.com.
