Rockland County Health Department Begins Mosquito Prevention
Rockland County Executive Ed Day and County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert advise residents that the Health Department has begun treating catch basins and storm drains to prevent mosquitoes from breeding in the standing water inside of these structures. Work will continue throughout the Ccounty through the end of May. Residents are urged to avoid parking over storm drains during the treatment work so crews can access the catch basins more easily. LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- Three potential buyers have emerged for the historic Larchmont Movie Theater which has been on the market for three weeks, according to lohud.com. Fire Closes SUNY New Paltz Fine Arts Building
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- The State University Of New York At New Paltz Fine Arts Building studio was closed this weekend as a result of a fire on Thursday night that damaged the wood and sculpture studios, according to The Poughkeepsie Journal. A graphic design thesis show was still held on Friday as the Rotunda was not damaged. West Point Investigating Photo With Possible Political Activism Undertones
WEST POINT, N.Y. -- The United States Military Academy has begun to investigate a photo showing 16 African-American female cadets wearing uniforms and raising their fists, according to lohud.com. The image is under question because of a possible violation of military restrictions on political activity. The photo was originally intended as an annual tradition with seniors taking photos in uniform to pay homage to predecessors. Rockland County Sheriff's Office Goes Digital To Inform Residents
CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- The Rockland County Sheriff's Office has posted another digital open house on it's Facebook page. This week the digital open house looks at Traffic Safety and Family Court Orders of Protection as well as the following issues. Each year the Sheriff’s office applies and receives a grant from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.
