Dutchess Hosts Annual Wappinger Creek Water Derby PLEASANT VALLEY, N.Y. -- Dutchess County announced that they will be holding their 46th annual Wappingers Creek Water Derby on Saturday, April 23, 2016. From Pleasant Valley to Greenvale Park the 8-mile canoe and kayak race will go down Wappingers Creek. Many different classes can participate with trophies awarded. The starting point will be Pleasant Valley Recreation Center on Route 44 in Pleasant Valley at 8 a.m. and it will finish at Greenvale Recreation Park on Route 376 in Poughkeepsie at 3 p.m. Rules and an application for the race can be found at this link.
