New Canaan Skaters Glide To Gold At Synchro Nationals NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Three skaters from New Canaan were crowned national champions at the 2016 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich. Kat Root, Nikka Staron and Lucy Potter, all students at Saxe Middle School, are members of the Skyliners Synchronized Skating Team. The girls traveled to the event last month with their teammates to compete among the 12 best synchronized skating teams in the country in their respective divisions. Root, a sixth-grader, skates on the Juvenile Line, which performs to music from the Broadway show “9 to 5.” The Skyliners’ Juvenile team earned …

Pleasantville Takes First At Regional Science Olympiad PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Pleasantville Middle School teams entered the Lower Hudson Regional Science Olympiad competition and won a first place trophy and nineteen medals overall. In addition, for the third time in only its fourth year of existence, the school’s Science Olympiad program will send a team to the New York State Finals in Syracuse, on April 8 and 9.
