STRATFORD, Conn. -- Ahead of Germany’s planned purchase of up to 70 heavy-lift helicopters, Connecticut's U.S. Sens. Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal, both Democrats, sent a letter to German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen urging the country to replace their existing fleet with the new, Sikorsky-made CH-53K King Stallion aircraft. NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Mad Bulls Youth team placed 12 out of 19 wrestlers in the mighty-mite and bantam wrestling state championships, with six making it into the finals. Second-grader Colin Falla was crowned the state champion for the second consecutive year in the bantam division. NORWALK, Conn. — The Norwalk Board of Education has established an Ad-Hoc Special Education Committee to oversee the implementation of recent recommendations from the 2015 CREC Report to make improvements in special education across the entire school district. NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Concordia College freshman Stephen Milhaven has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Co-Rookie of the Week in men’s basketball. The announcement came on Monday afternoon, Feb, 15, from the CACC and is reflected for games played between Feb. 8 to 14. Milhaven has earned a rookie of the week selection from the CACC in four weeks so far this season and three within the past four weeks overall. Greenwich Police Youth Academy Accepting Applications
GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Greenwich Police Department is accepting applications for the 2016 Youth Citizen’s Police Academy. The five-day program will begin on Monday, June 27 and finish on Friday, July 1.Applicants must be Greenwich residents or children of Town of Greenwich employees, entering seventh, eighth, or ninth grade in the fall of 2016. There is a $95 fee for the program. The fee will provide each participant with a YCPA t-shirt, a certificate of completion, and a barbecue lunch on the final day of class. Young Yonkers Filmmaker Michael Villucci Lets Seniors Tell Stories
YONKERS, N.Y.-- Michael Villucci, who is enrolled in the Cinema Studies program at New York University and pursuing a minor in Business Entertainment there, spent summer 2015 at the Morningside Rehabilitation Center in the Bronx, interviewing several senior residents about their lives.
