HVThankful Donates $2,000 To United Way In East Dutchess
EAST DUTCHESS, N.Y. -- Emily Darrow, winner of the 2015 #HVThankful challenge, loves her job at the United Way of the Dutchess and Orange Regions and looked forward to the chance to give back to the organization. On Feb. 9, Darrow watched as that same organization, which she selected as her nonprofit of choice, received a check for $2,000 from Ashworth Creative, creator of #HVThankful. Because of the generosity of #HVThankful’s 2015 sponsors, the United Way and Emily Darrow will keep locating needy individuals and providing critical interventions and resources.

Scarsdale Library Adult Book Club Features World Literature Selections
SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- The new adult book club at the Scarsdale Public Library, which discusses books with the theme this year of “Words Around the World,” will meet on Saturday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m., and again on Monday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. Led by Wendy Archer, the library’s Adult Services manager, the group will discuss “Shame and the Captives” by Thomas Keneally. Based on true events, “Shame and the Captives,” by the author of “Schindler’s List,” explores a World War II prison camp in Australia, where Japanese prisoners resolve to take drastic action to wipe away their shame.

Darien Y Gymnasts Top The Podium In Hartford
DARIEN, Conn. -- Competing against more than 1,400 gymnasts from 35 teams at the DGS Northeast Invite in Hartford, Darien Y gymnasts topped the podium in the team competition at level 5 and level 6. Additionally, four gymnasts won individual all-around titles for their age group, including Anna Altier, Abigail O’Brien, Nadia Borja, and Saskia Chermayeff.
