Ridgefield Police Cracking Down On Distracted Driving
RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- During the month of August the Ridgefield Police Department is participating in the “U DRIVE. U TEXT. U PAY.” initiative to crackdown on motorists who choose to text, talk or otherwise distract themselves from driving by using a phone. The Ridgefield Police Department will have extra patrols on certain days specifically looking for cell phone and texting violations. Under Connecticut’s cell phone and texting law fines range from $150 for a first offense, $300 for a second offense, and $500 for each subsequent offense. Presidential Helicopter Moves To Production Phase At Stratford's Sikorsky
STRATFORD, Conn. – The assembly, test and evaluation of the new presidential helicopter is set to take place at Stratford's Sikorsky Aircraft. The joint Sikorsky and Naval Air Systems Command helicopter program team met in July with key collaborators from government and industry for an in-depth design review. Suspect Avoids Police All The Way Into The River In Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A suspect in Bridgeport jumped off the East Washington Avenue bridge into Pequonnock River Tuesday morning to avoid police who were chasing him, according to the Connecticut Post. A hitch in the getaway plan was that the man with four outstanding warrants couldn't swim, the Connecticut Post reported. Stratford Police Seek Suspect In Town Hall Theft
STRATFORD, Conn. -- Stratford Police are seeking a man caught on security footage and suspected of stealing a wallet from a Town Hall employee and money from the snack bar, according to NBC Connecticut. A staff member of the Chief Administrative Office at Town Hall reported her wallet stolen last Tuesday, July 26 and a man was seen on security cameras walking around the building in a suspicious manner for about 20 minutes, NBC Connecticut reported. Greenknoll Branch Of YMCA In Brookfield Reopens After Lightning Strike
BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- The Greenknoll Branch of the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut in Brookfield has reopened Tuesday, Aug. 2, after a morning closure due to no running water. "We apologize for the inconvenience today," the YMCA said in a Facebook post. "We were without water due to a lightning strike at the electrical panel that controls the well pump." The Greenknoll Branch reopened at 1:30 p.m. The Greenknoll Branch is located at 2 Huckleberry Hill Road in Brookfield.
