Lawsuit Against Town Continues After Fishkill Officer Wins Appeal
FISHKILL, N.Y. -- The dismissal of a lawsuit filed by a Town of Fishkill police officer has been reversed by a federal appeals court, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. Capt. Scott Bierce brought the suit believing his First Amendment rights were infringed upon. He contends that Fishkill Supervisor Bob LaColla sought revenge after Bierce publicly supported LaColla's Republican primary opponent Joan Pagones, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. Class Of 2020 Gets First CNR Experience At Summer Orientation
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The College of New Rochelle welcomed members of the class of 2020 for two days of orientation events on June 29-30. The incoming students — including the first co-ed class of the School of Arts and Sciences — met with academic advisers, registered for classes, learned about student support services, and attended a departmental fair. The program is designed to prepare students for the world of sports media. Mount Vernon YMCA Behind Schedule On Repairs
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- A YMCA in disrepair that was purchased by Mount Vernon to renovate is a year behind the original scheduled opening with much work still to go, according to lohud.com.The city originally bought in 2013 for $750,000 including borrowing an additional $750,000 for restoration. PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- Putnam Valley Elementary School has recognized a current student with an award named for a student who tragically died in a car accident. Fourth-grader Charlie Garcia was recognized with the award in the name of Jacob Greenfield Jacob was a kindergartner at PVES who died in a car accident in 1994. Mount Vernon Suing Over Car Crash With Department Of Public Works Vehicle
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The city of Mount Vernon is suing after a vehicle crashed into the Public Works commissioner's car in New Jersey, according to lohud.com. Mario and Xavier Vallejo are being sued for $15,000 as a result of damage to the city-owned and taxpayer-funded car. The accident occurred in Montvale, N.J., on June 24 and subsequent lawsuit followed on July 7 in New York State Supreme Court, according to lohud.com. Witnesses Say Teenager Shot At Yonkers Party
YONKERS, N.Y. -- A party on School Street in Yonkers turned violent Friday night, July 15, witnesses say, according to News 12. According to witnesses, someone pulled out a gun shooting a teenage boy. The victim was taken to the hospital but there were no updates on his condition. Firefighters Battle Fire At House In Irvington
IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- Firefighters battled an Irvington house fire Sunday morning that started around 5 a.m. at 6 Mohican Lane, according to News 12. It was reported that no one was home as neighbors say the house is in the process of being sold, according to News 12.
