Yonkers City Hall Flies Rainbow Flag In Solidarity With Orlando YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers City Hall raised the rainbow flag on Monday, June 20, in solidarity with the victims of the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando in which 49 LGBT club-goers were shot and killed, according to lohud.com.The shooting took 49 lives in the early hours of June 12 including Rockland County native Shane Tomlinson. Raising the Gay Pride flag is an annual event in Yonkers, organized by the Yonkers Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Advisory Board, according to lohud.com. Jefferson Elementary Kicks Off Fifth-Grade Moving Up Ceremonies NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Jefferson Elementary School led the way and kicked off the first of the fifth-grade moving up ceremonies in New Rochelle schools. New Rochelle HS Irish Club Raises Funds For Cystic Fibrosis Fight NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The New Rochelle High School Irish Club recently conducted its second annual fundraiser for cystic fibrosis research. The club's concert, featuring the Irish group the Wolfe Tones, raised more than $1,100 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The NRHS German Club also added to the group's fundraising total. The Irish Club was led this year by student co-presidents Haley Fullerton, Anya DiSalvo and William Roberts. Irish Club adviser is Kevin McIvor and German Club adviser is Ana Ferreira.

Nyack Musician Kimberly Hawkey Launches Kickstarter Campaign To Fund Album NYACK, N.Y. -- Kimberly Hawkey, a 28-year-old musician, launched an internet-based crowdfunding campaign using Kickstarter to raise funds for a debut vocal jazz album. With the working title "Vintage Song," this album will feature pop music from the early 20th century as well as traditional American folk songs that predate recorded music. Plane Out Of Westchester Makes Belly Landing On Long Island HARRISON N.Y. -- A charter plane that took off from Westchester County Airport with two people onboard made a landing with the gears up at Republic Airport in Farmingdale on Long Island, according to lohud.com. Ponderosa Air President Jan Nerud, 68, was the pilot. He said that while no one was hurt in the incident, the plane was totaled after sliding roughly 2,000 feet on its belly after reaching the runway at 125 mph. ArtsWestchester Displays Work From White Plains Students WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The ArtsWestchester Gallery of White Plains will open an exhibition featuring the works of 25 White Plains High School students who are members of the National Art Honor Society. Suffern Student's Lip Dub Turns Middle School Into Music Video SUFFERN, N.Y. -- Suffern Middle School's Kindness Crusaders club put together a lip dub for the 2016 school year that featured the songs "Hall of Fame" by the Script and "Don't Look Down" by Martin Garrix. The video was recorded on June 17, 2016 and it was posted to YouTube yesterday by Nicole Tarife, who is one of the club advisors along with Maureen Ritter. Poughkeepsie Man Accused Of Shooting Woman In Kingston POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Raymond Moore Jr. of Poughkeepsie stands accused of shooting a woman in the head at an apartment in Kingston, according to Time Warner Cable News. Police found a 23-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head when they arrived Saturday, and she was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment, reported TWC News. An investigation led Moore, who has been charged with assault and possession of a weapon and is being held at Ulster County Jail without bail, according to Time Warner Cable News.
