Irvington Home Restored To Look Of Gilded Age
IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- Inanda, a Gilded Age home in Irvington, has been restored recently, according to lohud.com. Many of the features of the home had been maintained well from the Tiffany glass windows, nine fireplaces and brass door hardware, according to lohud.com. Mountain Biking Lanes In Blauvelt State Park Stir Debate
BLAUVELT, N.Y. -- Mountain bikers will be welcome in Blauvelt State Park in the near future but some locals disagree with the idea, according to lohud.com. The 590-acre park will welcome bikers and hikers to share a multi-use mountain bike trail. Led by the community group Palisades MTB they plan to carve out a single-track trail five miles long and between one and two-feet wide throughout, according to lohud.com. Three Apprehended After Chase On I-84 Ends In Crash With Police Car
MONTGOMERY, N.Y. -- A police chase on I-84 West in Montgomery ended with the recovery of a stolen car out of Rhode Island and the arrest of three people after they crashed into a state cop car. The driver of the vehicle, Jason Swan, 31, of Woonsocket, R.I., drove off after being pulled over for speeding after officers determined he was driving a stolen vehicle, New York state police said. A pursuit ensued for 12 miles until the car Swan was driving they struck a state police vehicle, and came to a stop. The trooper in the vehicle was uninjured. HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- An abandoned gas station in the Greentree neighborhood off Route 9G is coming down and will be replaced by a green space, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. Yonkers Man Slashed In Face
YONKERS, N.Y. -- Police are searching for a man who slashed a Yonkers resident overnight, according to News 12. Two Mount Vernon men aged 36 and 22 were walking near New School Street about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday when they were attacked. The 22-year-old ran away but the 36-year-old was slashed in the face and taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx with non life threatening injuries. Schools Can Collect Taxes Under Rockland-Legislators Sponsored Bill
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee announced passage of legislation she sponsored that would amend the town law to allow a school district to collect its own taxes instead of the town with proper notice, she announced in a press release. “This legislation will allow the school district to determine what method of tax collection is most effective and efficient for the parties involved, most especially our property taxpayers,” Jaffee said. Poughkeepsie Invites Public To Take Art Tour
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Public Art Tour, part of the Second Annual Poughkeepsie Open Studios Celebration, starts at 9 a.m. on June 18, at the Cunneen Hackett Art Center.The two-hour tour costs $20, $15 for seniors and $10 for students. The tour will be led by Franc Palaia, who currently has a solo show of color photographs of Cuban Murals on view on the same day at the Cunneen venue. The art center is at 12 Vassar St., in Poughkeepsie.
