Rye Hosting Food Truck Festival
RYE, N.Y. -- The City of Rye Recreation Department is host its inaugural Food Truck Festival on Saturday, June 25. The event will include food trucks from both New York and Connecticut, along with a kids zone, live music and beer tent from 1 to 5 p.m. at Rye Recreation Park. Day Says Rockland Private School Inspections Successful
NEW CITY, N.Y. -- County fire officials have inspected eight private schools as of 3 p.m. on Tuesday as requested by the New York State Department of Education, Rockland County Executive Ed Day said in a press release. "The work we have done is a great victory for all children in Rockland, who will now be attending schools in buildings that are safe," Day said. "We are proud that we pushed this issue and improved safety for children and first responders." New City Fire Department Reports To Omni Court Condos For Alarm
NEW CITY, N.Y. -- New City Firefighters were dispatched to the Omni Court condos for an alarm activation on Monday, June 6. Upon arrival after the 3:50 a.m. alarm, Chief Dennis Rodriguez reported he discovered a broken fire sprinkler leaking water. Realizing the building stored pool chemicals for the complex, he requested the Rockland County Hazardous Materials team to the scene as a precaution. Plans To Pave Nyack Fields Shot Down By Residents
NYACK, N.Y. -- Residents are against paving an athletic field to put up a parking lot for Nyack Hospital and have launched an online petition, according to lohud.com. "Don't Bulldoze MacCalman Field's Baseball Diamond for a Parking Lot" was started by John Gromada, who plans to deliver it to the Nyack Board of Education, according to lohud.com. The hospital has expressed interest in acquiring the baseball field, not the adjoining football field, according to lohud.com. DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- With three weeks until Republicans and Democrats go to the polls, John Faso and Zephyr Teachout hold considerable leads. For the 19th Congressional District seat being vacated by Rep. Chris Gibson (R), John Faso has a 22-point lead over Andrew Heaney, 50-28 percent, in the Republican primary and Zephyr Teachout has a 30-point lead over Will Yandik, 53-23 percent, in the Democratic primary, according to new Time Warner Cable News/Siena College polls of likely 19th C.D. primary voters released Wednesday.
