Ossining Youths Compete In Somers Slam Lacrosse Tournament OSSINING, N.Y. -- The Ossining Youth Lacrosse program participated in the Somers Slam tournament at Somers High School on Saturday. There were over 200 teams participating in all divisions. The kindergarten through second-grade team had four wins and no losses. The third- and fourth-grade team had two wins and two losses. The fifth- and sixth-grade team had two wins and two losses. The seventh- and eighth-grade team had four wins and no losses. Putnam Humane Society Seeks Owner Of Dog Found In Garrison GARRISON, N.Y. -- A male dog was found on Routes 9 and 403 in Garrison. The dog is microchipped, but the Putnam Humane Society in Carmel, where the dog is being housed, is unable to reach owner at this time. Yonkers Education Group Seeks College Essay Tutors YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers Partners In Education is hosting an orientation Wednesday, June 15, from 10 a.m.-noon at YPIE College ZoneYPIE is seeking 20 college essay writing volunteers for its Summer College Prep Academy. Volunteers will help rising seniors prepare an effective college application essay. Briarcliff High Students Win Hendrick Hudson Film Festival Awards BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Briarcliff High School filmmakers walked the red carpet and took home prizes from the Hendrick Hudson Film Festival on May 17. The festival included more than 90 submissions from more than 20 school districts. Suffern's Vincent Crotty Foundation Event Helps Needy Kids SUFFERN, N.Y. -- The Vincent Crotty Memorial Foundation and the Suffern Police Benevolent Association's recent seventh annual wing night was a success. Chief Clarke Osborn worked the entrance greeting and thanking all for showing their support before making his way around to try and thank as many as possible individually. The Crotty family put together the night and had enough food to take care of more than what was expected to show up.
