Monticello Remembers Its Time With Muhammad Ali MONTICELLO, N.Y. -- All across the country people are remembering Muhammad Ali but a local community is remembering a personal experience with the man dubbed "The Greatest," according to Time Warner Cable News. Twice during his career, Ali trained at the Kutsher's Hotel in Monticello, said Time Warner Cable News. The resort was known for hosting world-class boxers, but former owner Mark Kutsher said Ali was one of a kind, according to Time Warner Cable News. Armed Man Robs Yonkers Deli YONKERS, N.Y. -- An armed man robbed a Yonkers deli overnight, according to News 12 Westchester. Police say the suspect robbed the clerk behind the counter at #1 Deli and Grocery on South Broadway shortly before midnight, according to News 12 Westchester. According to the clerk, about $500 cash was stolen, but no one was hurt in the incident. Detectives are looking at surveillance video, but no arrests have been made, according to News 12 Westchester. Peekskill Middle School Helps Induct Veteran Into Hall Of Fame PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- More than 60 enthusiastic students cheered Navy veteran Merwin Treptow as Senator Terrence Murphy inducted him into the New York State Senate Hall of Fame at a ceremony held at the Peekskill Middle School.Treptow's biography became part of Senator Murphy's Veterans' Moving Wall currently on display at the school. Known as "Dutch," Treptow served two hitches in the Navy, first during World War II, then Korea. Rhinebeck Aerodrome Museum Kicks Off Season RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- The Rhinebeck Aerodrome Museum’s “Spirit of the Aerodrome Gala” celebrated the 89th anniversary of Charles Lindbergh’s transatlantic crossing and the public debut flight of the Aerodrome’s brand-new reproduction Spirit of St. Louis aircraft. Westlake Students Raise, Release Trout Into Reservoir MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- Westlake Middle School students in Erika O'Byrne and Virginia Campbell's classes raised trout this spring, as part of the New York Trout in the Classroom program. Students cared for the trout daily, feeding them and monitoring water temperature and pH and changing the filters in the classroom tanks to ensure the fish would thrive. On May 24, students boarded a bus that took them to the other end of Nanny Hagan Road where each of the students was able to release some of the fish — about 50 trout in all — into Whippoorwill Creek at the head of the Kensico Reservoir. Yorktown Schools Appoint New Assistant Superintendent YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- At its May 23 meeting, the Board of Education of the Yorktown Central School District appointed Lisa O’Shea to the position of Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction effective July 1. The post had been held for ten years by Dr. Florence O’Connor who announced her retirement in May. The search drew 84 candidates for the position. Mamaroneck Lacrosse Star Eric Greenberg Named All-American MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Eric Greenberg was one of two Southern Westchester players to make it to the All-American team this year. He was the MVP of Mamaroneck's team this season and will be playing at Lehigh next year. This is the second consecutive year a Mamaroneck High School lacrosse player has been named an All-American after Reed Malas last year.
