Police say the suspect robbed the clerk behind the counter at #1 Deli and Grocery on South Broadway shortly before midnight, according to News 12 Westchester. According to the clerk, about $500 cash was stolen, but no one was hurt in the incident. Detectives are looking at surveillance video, but no arrests have been made, according to News 12 Westchester. Westlake Students Raise, Release Trout Into Reservoir MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- Westlake Middle School students in Erika O'Byrne and Virginia Campbell's classes raised trout this spring, as part of the New York Trout in the Classroom program. Students cared for the trout daily, feeding them and monitoring water temperature and pH and changing the filters in the classroom tanks to ensure the fish would thrive. On May 24, students boarded a bus that took them to the other end of Nanny Hagan Road where each of the students was able to release some of the fish — about 50 trout in all — into Whippoorwill Creek at the head of the Kensico Reservoir.  Ki…

Yorktown Schools Appoint New Assistant Superintendent YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- At its May 23 meeting, the Board of Education of the Yorktown Central School District appointed Lisa O’Shea to the position of Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction effective July 1. The post had been held for ten years by Dr. Florence O’Connor who announced her retirement in May. The search drew 84 candidates for the position.
