Elli L. Bayliss, 90, White Plains Resident WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Elli L. Bayliss, of White Plains, died at his home surrounded by her family on Friday, July 17. She was 90. Bayliss was born Dec. 31, 1924, in Guckingen, Germany. She came to this country with Morris Bayliss, her husband of 51 years. They were the owners of Nu-Way Cleaners & Tailors of Westchester, family-owned since 1945 and now operated by her son, Richard and his family. Her husband died in 2000. The school sent students ages 9-11 to Challenge Camp for the week of July 13. The students are participating in the Challenge Camp curriculum, which complements the coursework of the Shanghai Xuhui Aiju Primary School. Sister Mary Dominica Buttner, 101, Mount Vernon Resident MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Sister Mary Dominica Buttner, a resident of the Wartburg Home in Mount Vernon, died Tuesday, July 14, at the age of 101. She was born Rita Mary Buttner in the Bronx on Dec. 17, 1913, to George and Matilda (German) Buttner. On Oct. 4, 1930, she entered the Sisters of St. Francis Neumann Community and made her final religious profession on July 14, 1936. She began teaching in many schools in Astoria, Brooklyn, Staten Island and Poughkeepsie from 1933-56, as well as Holy Name of Jesus School in New Rochelle from 1962-79.
