Briarcliff Village Manager's Report Focuses On Water BRIARCLIFF MANOR -- The annual Briarcliff Manor water report indicates there have been no violations of Department of Health water quality standards for the full year, Village Manager Philip E. Zegarelli in a recent report to residents. The village also has one of the lowest “unallocated water loss” calculations in Westchester County, Zegarelli said. Unallocated water is water lost by leaks, breaks and other means in the transmission system. Quarterly testing has extended the village's string of tests with no violations. Somers Library Portrays Local Leaders As Reading Superheroes SOMERS, N.Y. -- The Somers Library has been collecting photos of leaders in the Somers community posing in the library's Reading Superhero cutout. Recent additions were Councilman Bill Faulkner and Somers Intermediate School Principal John Griffiths. The library expects to get many more photos of patrons when the Reading Superhero cut-out becomes available to the public starting in mid-June.

Two Mamaroneck High Graduates Win Pulitzer Prizes MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Two of this year’s Pulitzer Prize winners graduated from Mamaroneck High School. Elizabeth Kolbert (class of 1979) won for "The Sixth Extinction" in the general nonfiction category, and David I. Kertzer (class of 1965) won the biography or autobiography prize for "The Pope and Mussolini: The Secret History of Pius XI and the Rise of Fascism in Europe."
