Long Island Man Charged With Robbery Of Supermarket With Knife, Police Say
A Long Island man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to steal items from a supermarket and then confronting an employee with a knife.
Nicholas Berg, age 36, undomiciled, was arrested around noon on Wednesday, Feb. 2, by Riverhead Police after the incident at the Gala Fresh Supermarket, located at 795 Old Country Road.
According to police, Berg was seen inside the store removing items from the market without paying for them.
When confronted in front of the store, Berg displayed a knife, police said.

Professor In New England Accused Of Running Over Cop Boyfriend, Leaving Him To Die In Snow Bank
A Massachusetts adjunct professor has been arrested and charged with the death of a longtime police officer.
Karen Read, age 41, of Mansfield, a lecturer at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts, was charged with manslaughter for allegedly running over her Boston Police officer boyfriend and leaving him for dead in a snowbank while a Nor'easter roared across the area on Saturday, Jan. 29.
According to the Daily Mail, Read allegedly dropped John O'Keefe, age 46, a 16-year veteran of the Boston Police, off at a house in Canton.

New Amazon Facility Under Construction In Westchester
With e-commerce continuing to grow across the country due to the pandemic, it's no surprise that Amazon is building a new warehouse in Westchester County.
Located in Mount Pleasant on Route 9A, the new 150,000-square-foot distribution center will include 136,000 feet of warehouse space and 14,000 square feet of office space, according to Mount Pleasant Town Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi.
Most importantly, the project will bring about 100 local jobs -- with pay starting around $18 an hour -- and about 1,000 area construction jobs, the supervisor said.
