New Poll Reveals What NYers Think Of Hochul's Job Performance So Far Despite just weeks in office, Gov. Kathy Hochul, who succeeded former Gov. Andrew Cuomo when he resigned in scandal, has a positive favorability rating among New Yorkers, according to a brand-new poll. The Siena College poll, released Tuesday, Sept. 14, found Hochul was viewed favorably by 42 percent of voters and unfavorably by 17 percent; with 41 percent still undecided. By 52-18 percent, voters say Hochul has a more collaborative approach to government leadership than her predecessor, and they say it’s exciting to have New York’s first woman governor by a 74-16 margin.  I…

Man Struck, Killed By Car On Long Island Roadway Police are investigating a fatal overnight crash on Long Island. The accident took place in Nassau County around 10 p.m., Monday, Sept. 13, in East Meadow. According to detectives, a 34-year-old man was driving a 2000 Honda westbound on Hempstead Turnpike in the vicinity of Merrick Avenue and struck a man walking on the roadway. The man suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead, police said. The driver remained at the scene. The vehicle was brake and safety checked. Western Mass Woman Dies Hours After Being Shot, Police Say A woman has died hours after being found shot on street in the region. The unidentified Massachusetts woman was found shot in Hampden County around 2:50 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11 on Vermont Street in Springfield. 15-Foot Boa Constrictor Rescued From Storm Drain In Hudson Valley Thanks to the knowledge of an experienced snake handler a 15-foot boa constrictor was rescued from an area storm drain. The snake, probably someone's pet that got loose or was released into the wild, was first seen by a Rockland County resident Bridget Avonne Moschetti on Sunday, Sept. 12, who was driving down the roadway and spotted the giant snake going down a storm drain in Nanuet. Body Found In CT Pond Police are investigating after a body was found in a Connecticut pond. The body of a man was found after Hartford Police received information regarding a body floating in a pond at Bushnell Park around 7:30 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 12. When officers arrived at the park they retrieved the man's body, said Lt. Person Struck, Killed By Metro-North Train This story has been updated with corrected information from authorities. A person was killed after being struck by a Metro-North train in the Hudson Valley. The incident took place around 3:45 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, in Dutchess County approximately half a mile south of the Pawling station, said MTA officials. New Haven County resident Timothy Hughes, age 39, was found around 11:35 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 10, when police responded to shots fired complaint in Waterbury in the area of Southview Street.
