Man Who Shot At Troopers In Area Charged With Attempted Murder, Police Say A Hudson Valley man who fired at New York State troopers during a domestic dispute and was in return shot by troopers has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer. Orange County resident Patrick Hermanowski, age 39, of Westbrookville, was charged on Tuesday, Sept. 14, and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail, said Trooper Steven Nevel. According to Nevel, the incident took place around 2:50 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 12, when troopers and the Deerpark Police responded to a 911 call in Westbrookville. Community Rallies To Support Family Of Man Found Dead At Area Cemetery The community is rallying behind the family of a lifelong Hudson Valley resident and Afghanistan war veteran who was found dead in a rural cemetery. The body of Kyle Van De Water, age 41, was discovered in Dutchess County on Tuesday, Sept. 7, in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery by City of Poughkeepsie police. Van De Water, died in an apparent suicide two weeks after he dropped out of his race for a United States House of Representatives seat in the Hudson Valley. Man Found Dead At Long Island Motel Police are investigating after a man was found dead inside a Long Island motel room. The discovery was made around 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14 in Massapequa, said the Nassau County Police. According to detectives, the 40-year-old was found inside a room at the Budget Inn, at 400 Carman Mill Road. He was pronounced dead by a Nassau County Police medic at 1:45 p.m. His identity has not yet been released. An investigation is ongoing. No further details are being reported at this time. CT Man Charged For Crash Killing One, Injuring Another A Connecticut man is facing manslaughter and driving under the influence charges for allegedly killing a dirt bike driver and injuring a moped driver before fleeing the scene on the Long Island Expressway. It happened around 10:20 p.m., Monday, Sept. 13, at 4 Rockridge Circle in Bridgeport.
