Hospitalized CT Firefighter, 26, In Critical Condition After Collapsing During Blaze
A Connecticut firefighter is in critical condition following a fire that broke out at a historic building that also injured two others.
The three-alarm fire started in Litchfield County, in the Town of New Hartford, around 2:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 10, on the third floor and the roof of the building at 4 Bridge St., Jon Barbagallo, public information officer for Norfolk said.
According to Barbagallo, 75 to 100 first responders were on the scene and to work as stand-by units.

Sex Offender Nabbed For Area Robbery, Police Say
A Level 3 sex offender has been arrested for an alleged robbery in the area.
Orange County resident Donovan Hoilett, age 30, of Newburgh, was arrested on Saturday, Aug. 7, by New Paltz Police after he was spotted in Ulster County, according to authorities.
Hoilett was wanted by police for a robbery that took place on Saturday, July 24 in New Paltz, said New Paltz Police Chief Robert Lucchesi.
Following a two-week-long investigation, probable cause was established to charge Hoilett with the robbery, the chief said.

Police Make Arrest In CT Murder Within Hours Of Crime
A suspect has been arrested less than 24 hours after a Connecticut man was found shot to death inside a vehicle.
Tanoah Jones, age 35, of Augusta, Georgia, was located at the scene of the Hartford County murder and charged with the killing of Troy Reid, age 29, of Hartford, said Rafael Medina III, assistant Chief of Police.
Reid was found around 1:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, inside a vehicle in the rear of a home located at 20 Sterling St., with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel, Medina said.

Ex-Suffolk DA Spota, Aide Sentenced For Corruption
Two former high-ranking Suffolk County government officials have been sentenced to jail following a six-week federal jury trial.
Former Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas J. Spota and Christopher McPartland, his former anti-corruption aide were each sentenced Tuesday, Aug. 10, by US District Judge Joan M. Azrack, to five years in prison.
Additionally, Spota, age 79, of Mount Sinai, was ordered to pay a $100,000 fine.

Councilman Arrested After Challenging Trooper During Traffic Stop In Area, Police Say
A controversial councilman in the Hudson Valley has been arrested for goading police into arresting him after he was stopped for running a red light.
Orange County's Omari Shakur, age 65, a city of Newburgh councilmember, was arrested Thursday, Aug. 5, when he refused to show his identification and said to the trooper, "(Expeletive deleted) you, arrest me," during the traffic stop, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
Nevel said Shakur has exhibited anti-police behavior in the past, and for "some reason doesn't think he has to show identification or cooperate with the police."
