Driver Escapes Injury After Hitting Pole, Flipping Vehicle On Route 22, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man escaped injury after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole.
The crash took place around 7:20 a.m., Friday, June 4, in Putnam County, on Route 22 in Patterson, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
Byron R. Duarte Giron, age 23, of Dover, was driving a 2010 Mazda southbound when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole and overturned, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
Route 22 has reopened.
No charges will be filed in the case.
Long Island Man Convicted Of Killing His Mother After Being Fired From His Job
A Long Island man has been found guilty of manslaughter and attempted murder in his mother's killing and the attempted murder of his father at his parent's home in 2019.
The Nassau County District Attorney’s Office announced Ian Kazer, age 31, Syosset man faced up to 25 years to life in prison after being convicted on Wednesday, June 2, in a bench trial before Judge Angelo Deligatti.
According to the indictment, on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, Kazer killed his 66-year old mother, Frances Kazer, by stabbing her 47 times. He also stabbed his father on the left side of his chest.

Duo Charged For Illegal Liquor Sales At Area Club Where Two Were Fatally Shot, Police Say
Two Fairfield County men have been arrested for the alleged illegal sale of alcohol at an after-hours clubs where two men were gunned down last month.
Josiah J. Israel, age 37, and Christopher Mojica, age 35, both of Bridgeport, were arrested on Wednesday, June 2 by Bridgeport Police.

Police, Family Still Search For College Student From Westchester Who Disappeared A Decade Ago
It's been 10 years since a young woman from New York was last seen after leaving the apartment of an acquaintance.
On Friday, June 3, 2011, at approximately 4:30 am, Westchester County resident Lauren Spierer, a native of Greenburgh and a then 20-year-old Indiana University student, left the apartment of an acquaintance on the 200 block of West 11th Street in Bloomington, Indiana.
