Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

Mets Fire Callaway “We want to thank Mickey for his consistent work ethic and dedication," New York Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen said Thursday morning after the team fired Mickey Callaway as manager. Female Paterson Stabbing Victim Ends Up In Fair Lawn A Paterson stabbing victim ended up at a home in Fair Lawn before dawn Thursday, authorities confirmed. The 24-year-old woman was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson by a Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance crew just after 1:30 a.m. with stab wounds in the arm, leg and back, Sgt. Firefighter Falls Through Floor At Glen Rock House Blaze A Glen Rock firefighter wasn't seriously injured when he fell through a floor battling a home blaze late Wednesday night, authorities said. The firefighter went clear through to the basement in the two-alarm blaze on Greenway Road. Colleagues contained the fire to the kitchen of the two-story, wood-frame house and had it knocked down within 20 minutes of the 10:45 p.m. call, responders said. Dead Trucker Found In Palisades Park Bar A Palisades Park bartender told police he'd closed for the night when he found the body of a customer who'd overdosed in a storage room closet. Responding police officers tried to revive the 37-year-old truck driver from Cocoa, FL (previously North Bergen) after the bartender at Legends on Route 5 found his body while cleaning up shortly before 4:30 a.m. Sept. 22, according to a police report. Paramus Crash Temporarily Closes Southbound Route 17 Firefighters extricated a driver after a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday night on southbound Route 17 in Paramus that left a sedan on the divider. The highway was shut down soon after the 9:30 p.m. crash near A&S Drive, which sent at least one victim to the hospital. It was reopened completely about 45 minutes later.
