Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

Police: 3 Lyndhurst Students Suspended For Football Game Beating, Delinquency Complaints Coming Three 15-year-old Lyndhurst High School students were suspended for a brawl that left another teen injured at a football game last Friday, authorities said Tuesday. Edgewater Ex-Con Nabbed By Federal-State Strike Force Admits Laundering $850,000 In Drug Money An ex-con living in Edgewater admitted in federal court Tuesday that he laundered more than $850,000 in drug money. Bobbie L. Feds: Illegal Immigrant Abducted, Raped Paterson Girl, 15, Took Her Across State Lines A federal grand jury has returned charges against an illegal immigrant living in Passaic County who authorities said abducted and raped a 15-year-old Paterson girl he took to Ohio. Driver, Resident Hospitalized After Pickup Crashes Into Ridgefield House UPDATE: A pickup driver from North Bergen and a Ridgefield resident were both hospitalized with minor injuries after the truck slammed into a house, authorities said. Bogota Mayor Evicted, Political News Site Reports Bogota Mayor Christopher Kelemen was evicted from his home after not paying local property taxes for nearly a year, a New Jersey political news site reported. Authorities: Accused FedEx Impersonator Found With Loaded Gun During Fair Lawn Traffic stop A repeat offender charged with dressing up like a FedEx worker to snatch packages from porches was found carrying a loaded handgun during a traffic stop in Fair Lawn, authorities said.
