Pedestrian Fatally Struck By NJ Transit Train In North Jersey: Officials A pedestrian was fatally struck by an NJ Transit train at Union Station on Wednesday, Dec. 13, transit officials said. At 10:20 p.m., a Raritan Valley Line train, which departed Penn Station 40 minutes earlier, struck and fatally injured the pedestrian, NJ Transit said. There were no injuries reported to the 200 customers or crew on board the train, NJ Transit said. Raritan Valley Line service was suspended in both directions but later resumed, NJ Transit said. The pedestrian has not been identified.  New Jersey Transit police are leading the investigation.

Englewood Man Killed On Garden State Parkway Remembered As 'Kind-Hearted Gentle Person' Andres Felipe Valencia-Castano, an Englewood resident, was killed on the Garden State Parkway in Clifton on Sunday, Dec. 3 when he was struck by a vehicle while parked on the shoulder. He was 33 years old. "Felipe was always found smiling and would do his best to always go out of his way to help others;" Samina Sanders, who organized a fundraiser for Valencia-Castano's family, said. "He was a kind-hearted gentle person and embodied a true team spirit. He will be missed and remembered very fondly." The fundraiser raised $11,404 before it stopped acting donations. Elderly Man Killed In West Orange House Fire: Police A senior citizen was killed in a West Orange house fire on Tuesday morning, Dec. 12, police said.  West Orange police and fire responded to 30 Park Drive South at 10:30 a.m. and reported heavy smoke and fire in the structure, police said.  The victim, whose name has not been released, was removed from the residence and taken to Cooperman-Barnabas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead an hour later, police. The fire was not considered suspicious, police said.

Cars Crushed By Rock Slide In North Bergen: Reports Several cars parked at an apartment complex in North Bergen were crushed by a rock slide on Monday, Dec. 11, according to ABC 7. Nobody was injured though six to 12 cars parked at the Duchess apartment building on River Road were crushed by the rocks, witnesses told ABC 7. The rock slide was caused by the heavy rain that pelted the area on Sunday, Dec. 10. North Bergen Police did not respond to a request for comment.
