Driver Fleeing Crash Scene With Handgun Killed By Paterson Police: AG
A driver who crashed his car then fled from the scene with a handgun while trying to enter other nearby vehicle was shot and killed by a Paterson police officer in broad daylight, state officials said. Police responding to the crash near Straight and Van Houten Streets noticed the fleeing driver was armed around 4:10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, State Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin said. A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that killed the Virginia NAACP leader during a birthday trip to Turks and Caicos, authorities said. Everton Gunter is a name known to police in Hoboken. The 31-year-old man was arrested three times in a seven-week span last year for robbing three banks, NJ Advance Media reports. A 25-year-old New Jersey track star was shot and killed while behind the wheel of a vehicle Monday, Oct. 10, authorities said. A 19-year-old man is facing a murder charge and weapons offenses in a Passaic stabbing that left a 16-year-old boy dead and a 17-year-old boy wounded, authorities said. John E. Lido Restaurant is opening a second location in Bergen County. After 66 years in Hackensack, the popular restaurant is expanding to North Arlington. Shots Fired Outside Linden Movie Theater
A gunman fired shots at a Linden shopping center Monday, Oct. 10, local police said. Photos from the scene show police had taped off the area around the AMC Theater in the Aviation Shopping Plaza sometime after 4:15 p.m. Responding officers found multiple casings in the area. No injuries have been reported. This incident remains under investigation by the Linden Police Detective Bureau, and anyone with information is urged to contact Det.
