Darien's Middlesex Middle School Pays Tribute To Veterans DARIEN, Conn. -- Middlesex Middle School students in Darien celebrated Veterans' Day at a special assembly featuring six veterans who shared their experiences through stories, photos and videos. The celebration opened with the school's Camerata Singers’ rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner," followed by a Veterans' Day video, guest speakers, “I am an American” reading by several students, and the Taps bugle call to end the program.

Jennie Marciniak , 89, Of Wallington WALLINGTON, N.J. -- Jennie Marciniak (Janina Skorupska), died Saturday, Nov. 7. She was 90. Marciniak was born Oct. 24, 1926, on Jewel St, Greenpoint, Brooklyn, N.Y., to Jan and Rozalja (Tyznik) Skorupski. In 1932, in the aftermath of the Great Depression, her parents returned to Poland with the family.  As a young girl of 13, she witnessed the Sept 1, 1939 Nazi invasion of Poland and the Soviet invasion shortly after. She was an eyewitness to the atrocities and genocide committed against the Jews and other ethnic minorities.  In 1949, she returned to the United States of America and settle…
