Friends of Grinnell Library Meeting Set In Wappingers Falls WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- The first meeting of the new year for The Friends of Grinnell Library takes place Thursday, Jan. 7 in Wappingers Falls.The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and new members are always welcome. The Friends of Grinnell Library serve the community by assisting the public library through financial support and volunteer activities. NY Thruway, MADD Campaign Takes Aim At New Year's Drunk Driving The New York State Thruway and Mothers Against Drunk Driving kicked off the 29th Annual Red Ribbon DWI Prevention Initiative on Tuesday. The initiative aims to raise awareness about driving while intoxicated during the holiday season. To mark the annual campaign, Thruway Authority toll collectors will hand out red ribbons at select toll facilities along the Thruway to promote awareness about the dangers of driving while intoxicated. Stamford Police Arrest Suspect In Car Break-ins STAMFORD, Conn. -- Two suspects have been identified as members of a car larceny crew that stole items from vehicles in Stamford and used credit cards in New Haven and Hartford counties, according to Stamford police.Several arrests have been made and several more arrest warrants are pending in the case that involved break-ins of unlocked vehicles and stealing credit cards, cash and merchandise from Stamford residents, police said. Ex-Stamford Police Officer Charged With Larceny After Trip To Hawaii STAMFORD, Conn. -- A former Stamford police officer was arrested for allegedly taking a vacation in Hawaii with his girlfriend while being paid by the department during a purported deployment with the Army Reserves, the Stamford Advocate says.According to the article, Donald Chen, 30, resigned recently before the department could fire him.
