An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Greenburgh's Chuck Bronz Remembered As Devoted Husband, Father, Educator GREENBURGH, N.Y.--  For 50 years, Chuck Bronz was Lois Bronz's traveling companion. Bronz, a Greenburgh resident who taught math at Woodlands High School and later served on the Greenburgh School Board, died April 21 at the Grove at Valhalla at the age of 86. Chuck first met Lois when he was on vacation in New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras. The two were soon married and spent 50 years of marriage traveling all over the world and going on camping trips with their grandchildren. Mamaroneck High Schooler A 'Future Filmmaker' MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- She may only be a sophomore in high school but Mamaroneck High Schooler Leah Roffman is a filmmaker to watch. Roffman won the top prize yesterday at the Westchester Future Filmmakers Festival held at the Picture House in Pelham. Roffman was among 73 students from 13 schools who showcased their work at the festival. Roffman's film, entitled “Unaware” is a conceptual work inspired by the lyrics of the Dave Matthews Band song “Ants Marching.”

Man Charged After Threatening Victim With Pistol In Yorktown, Police Say YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A 21-year-old Ossining man was arrested and charged after Yorktown police say he displayed and pointed a pistol at another person. Jorge Andres Caranugi was charged with menacing in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor, after the incident, which occurred on April 28, police said. Caranugi was arraigned and released on $250 bail and is due back in court on May 16.

Yorktown Town Board Rejects Changes To Wetland Ordinance YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- After a three-hour hearing with more than 30 speakers, the Town of Yorktown decided to table any changes to its wetland ordinance at its April 18 meeting. Supervisor Michael Grace said the town will go back to the drawing board on the Freshwater Wetlands Protection Ordinance. The ordinance would've increased the minimum size for wetlands from 1,000 square feet to 4,356 square feet.
