Trip MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- A World War II veteran recently stopped to talk to Hommocks Middle School Eighth Graders at Arlington National Cemetery on their Washington D.C. trip.  After encountering Mr. Fricks, from Rome, Ga., hearing his story of being a Marine serving in the South Pacific, and landing at Iwo Jima, students asked him questions and then responded with applause, thanking him for his service.

Eastchester Assessor's Office Opens For Last Minute Renewals Of Exemptions EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Assessor's Office will be open from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on June 1 for last minute filings of renewals of Senior Citizen and Enhanced STAR exemptions. All senior citizen and enhanced STAR applicants who have not yet reapplied must do so by June 1. Rye's Jake Meyerson Snags All-Liberty Baseball Honors In College RYE, N.Y. -- Rye's Jake Meyerson earned second-team All-Liberty League honors this spring, for the second baseball season in a row. The Rye High School graduate hit .313 with seven doubles, one triple, three home runs, 30 RBI and 25 runs scored. He ended the season ranked third in the Liberty League in at-bats, eighth in home runs, ninth in RBI and 10th in hits. Meyerson was perfect in stolen bases, going six for six attempts.
