Community Fund Of Darien Awards $19K Grant To Person-To-Person
DARIEN, Conn. -- The Community Fund of Darien Grants Executive Committee has awarded $19,000 to Person-to-Person. The funds will be used to support the Emergency Assistance Program, which includes the agency’s Clothing Center and Food Pantries as well as Casework Services and Financial Assistance for P2P clients. Person-to-Person, Inc. was established in 1968 to provide low-income individuals and families living in Lower Fairfield County with basic emergency services. FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The town of Fairfield is sponsoring a facilitated workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Fairfield Museum and History Center to discuss the initial findings of a business and resident survey on economic development. Bridgeport Nonprofit Gains $500,000 Grant
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Mayor Joe Ganim has announced that The WorkPlace, a nonprofit organization based in Bridgeport, has been awarded a $500,000 federal grant by the U.S. Department of Labor for its efforts to prepare women inmates at the York Correctional Institute for release. The York facility is a women’s prison in Niantic, and The WorkPlace has worked in partnership with the Connecticut Department of Corrections and the city of Bridgeport preparing inmates for release and helping with job preparedness once ex-offenders are released and back into the community. NORWALK, Conn. -- A Harry Potter Midnight Release Party will happen at the Norwalk Public LIbrary on Saturday, July 30, at 10 p.m.After attendees take part in numerous book-based activities they will have a chance to buy "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" at midnight. U.S. Marshals Apprehend Bridgeport Fugitive Wanted In Danbury Home Invasion
DANBURY, Conn. -- The U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force out of Bridgeport arrested a 36-year-old man Wednesday in connection with a home invasion in Danbury. Rafael Serrano, 36, of Bridgeport was taken into custody around 7 a.m. The Danbury Police Department had a warrant out for Serrano as the result of an investigation of a home invasion from January on Beckett Street in Danbury, according to police. Police said Serrano and Francisco Jimenez, 39, of Danbury, broke into the house while the the mother was home with two children and dragged her upstairs prior to stealing money and jewelry. …

Brookfield Police Search For Stolen Dirt Bike
BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- The Brookfield Police Department is asking for residents to be on the look out for a missing dirt bike. The bike was stolen overnight, last Thursday, July 21 into the morning of Friday, July 22 in the Indian Fields area, police said. It was taken from the home of a local 15-year-old who had just purchased it after saving up. Shellfish Group Throws Family Friendly-Friendly Event At Greenwich Point
OLD GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Greenwich Shellfish Commission will share its plans for the future of Greenwich's coast along Long Island Sound, including oyster reefs, clam beds and improvements in water quality.The afternoon program will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Floren Family Environmental Center at Innis Arden Cottage at Greenwich Point Park in Old Greenwich.
