Bethel Supercoss BMX To Host Championship Race BETHEL, Conn. -- Bethel Supercross BMX will host Connecticut's biggest race of the year on Saturday, July 30 at 1 p.m. with sign up beginning at 9 a.m.This special event is a combined Gold Cup and Connecticut State Championship Series Qualifier Race. Riders receive triple district points and triple track points. Stratford Police Investigate Shooting STRATFORD, Conn. -- A shooting in Stratford on the night of Monday, July 25 is under investigation by police, according to the Connecticut Post. The incident occurred on Burritt Avenue when an unidentified African-American male got out of an SUV and shot at another vehicle, the Connecticut Post reported. One lead was not cooperative and the investigation continues, according to the Connecticut Post. The shooting took place at around 10 p.m., the Connecticut Post reported. Ridgefield Approves New Apartments On Main Street RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- An application for five single-family units at 509 Main St. was unanimously approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday, July 19, according to the Ridgefield Press.The owner of the property, developer Michael Eppoliti, submitted the application in February for the property across from the Elm's Inn, the Ridgefield Press reported. Boughton To Honor Danbury As A Purple Heart City DANBURY, Conn. -- Mayor Mark Boughton will officially declare the City of Danbury a Purple Heart City with a proclamation at the dedication of the Combat Wounded Parking Spaces at the Danbury War Memorial on Sunday, Aug. 7, which is Purple Heart Day. Stratford Police Department Looks To Hire Entry-Level Officers STRATFORD, Conn. -- The Stratford Police Department is hiring entry-level police officers. The deadline to apply is Saturday, Aug. 27, and the position carries a starting salary in the $60,000 range. Registration Under Way For Youth Lacrosse In Stratford STRATFORD, Conn. -- Registration is now open for Stratford Youth Lacrosse Fall Ball. The program will run for eight weeks starting in September and the cost is $85. Each player will also receive a lacrosse pinnie with their participation.
