Holidays Nyack-Style Offer Art Decorations, Indoor Market
NYACK, N.Y. -- Enjoy the holiday season Nyack-style, with “Art & Soul on the Hudson” from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day.The period will feature lights and artist-decorated shop windows, to bring the holidays to the stores, and restaurant and nightlife scene.
Two special shopping events are Small Business Saturday, Nov. 28 and Nyack’s 2nd annual Indoor Street Fair Sunday, Nov. 29.
Nyack's annual tree lighting celebration, Holiday Lights of Nyack, takes place Dec. 5.
Throughout December shops will be open extended hours.

Dover Man Charged With Stealing Rifle From Wappinger
WAPPINGER, N.Y. -- A Dover man has been charged in the theft of a firearm, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.Police arrested Scott Sweeney, 39, on a grand larceny in connection with a stolen rifle from the Town of Wappinger, they say.
The theft was reported to the Sheriff’s Office in late October, according to police.
An investigation revealed Sweeney as a potential suspect, and he is accused of stealing the rifle and then selling it to another person, police said.
Sweeney was arrested on Saturday, and the rifle has been recovered by detectives, according to police.

Jean K. Harlukowicz, 91, Of Nyack
NYACK, N.Y. -- Jean K. Harlukowicz, of Nyack, died Monday, Nov. 23. She was 91.Harlukowicz was born Jan. 6, 1924, to John and Frances Wanamaker.
She attended St. Ann’s School and Nyack High School, graduating with the class of 1942.
Harlukowicz was employed for 35 years as a repair service administrator for New York Telephone in South Nyack and Nanuet.
She was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Nyack and the Orangetown and Nyack Senior Citizens Club.
Harlukowicz was predeceased by her husband Walter in August of 1994.

Tuckahoe Schools Begin Registering For Kindergarten In January
TUCKAHOE, N.Y. -- The Tuckahoe Union Free School district will hold kindergarten registration for for September 2016 in January.Children who will be five years of age by Dec. 1, 2016, are eligible to attend kindergarten.
Parents/legal guardians are urged to register children according to the following schedule, utilizing the first letter of the child’s last name:A-L, Jan. 27, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; M-Z, Thursday, Jan. 28, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
